Barbados with Lusso Holidays – My Recent Caribbean Escape

I’ve recently returned from an amazing trip to Barbados with Lusso Holidays, and it’s reminded me exactly why this beautiful Caribbean island remains such a favourite with our customers at Love to Travel.

Flying Premium Economy with Virgin Atlantic

My trip began at London Heathrow, flying with Virgin Atlantic in Premium Economy. The experience was excellent from start to finish and a great way to begin a Caribbean holiday.

The extra space, comfort and service really do make a difference on a longer flight, and Premium Economy is something I’d definitely recommend considering if you want to make the journey part of the holiday experience.

The Newly Reopened Tamarind

I stayed at the newly reopened Tamarind in St James on Barbados’ beautiful west coast.

It was great to experience the hotel following its reopening and to see the changes first-hand. The west coast is one of my favourite areas of Barbados, with beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants and some of the island’s best-known hotels all within easy reach.

As a travel agent, there’s nothing quite like actually staying at a hotel and experiencing the destination personally. It means we can give our customers genuine advice based on what we’ve seen and experienced ourselves.

Seeing Barbados from the Sea

One of the highlights of the trip was an amazing Cool Runnings catamaran cruise.

Sailing along the coastline and watching the Barbados sunset from the water was absolutely beautiful. It’s one of those experiences that really captures the Caribbean — relaxed, fun and unforgettable.

We also headed inland on an island Jeep safari, which gave us the chance to see a completely different side of Barbados and visit many of the island’s sights. There is so much more to Barbados than its beaches, and getting out and exploring is something I would definitely recommend.

Dining with a Bajan

A particularly special experience was Dine with a Bajan.

Rather than dining in a restaurant, we were welcomed into the home of a lovely local couple who cooked authentic Bajan dishes for us.

Our host Jools was wonderful. The cooking, hospitality and warm welcome were amazing, and it felt like a genuine opportunity to experience Barbadian life, food and culture.

For me, experiences like this are what travel is all about. You come home remembering the people you met and the moments you shared just as much as the hotel or the beach.

Exploring Barbados’ West Coast Hotels

Of course, there was some work involved too!

During the trip I had the opportunity to visit and view several hotels along the west coast. These hotel visits are invaluable because they allow me to see the different styles, locations, rooms and facilities first-hand and understand which properties will suit different Love to Travel customers.

And there was one final visit that was particularly special…

Sandy Lane – A Bucket-List Moment

We finished with a show-round and meal at the iconic Sandy Lane.

Sandy Lane has long been one of those hotels I wanted to experience for myself, so being able to visit was definitely a bucket-list tick for me.

From the setting and service to the overall atmosphere, it was a fantastic way to finish a brilliant Barbados trip.

Why Barbados?

Barbados offers so much more than a beautiful beach holiday. You can sail the coast by catamaran, explore the island by Jeep, enjoy authentic Bajan food with local people or simply relax at one of the fabulous hotels along the west coast.

Having now returned with even more first-hand knowledge of the island and its hotels, I’m looking forward to helping our customers create their own Barbados experience.

A huge thank you to Lusso Holidays for a fantastic trip and to everyone who made us feel so welcome.
